🗓️ Tue., Nov. 10, 2026 | Check-in and Breakfast 7:15 am MST; Panel 7:30-8:30 am MST
📍 Deer/Scorpion Room, Sheratan Grand at Wild Horse Pass, Phoenix, AZ
Part of the Formative Growth for Impact Conference, Nov. 8-11
For Indigenous Peoples, generative artificial intelligence (AI) provides opportunities such as tracking wildfires, climate impact predications, and language preservation, and harbors potential threats such as water and land degradation, land displacement, and digital extractionism of culture and traditional knowledge. To reach its full potential and to eliminate harms, AI development must center respect for Indigenous data sovereignty and integration of Indigenous leadership and priorities throughout design and implementation.
AI and Data Sovereignty Priorities from Indian Country platforms data sovereignty and AI experts from Indian Country to provide context for asset managers and financial advisors, and discusses the intersections of AI and Indigenous Peoples as a range of industries accelerate its use in the mainstream.
Presenters:
Dr. Traci Morris, Executive Director, Tribal Nations Policy Institute
Daniel Oxendine, Research and Evaluation Associate, Roanhorse Consulting
Kate R. Finn (Moderator), Founder and Executive Director, Tallgrass Institute
Presented by the Investors & Indigenous Peoples Working Group (IIPWG) to commemorate its 20th Anniversary, with support from Tallgrass Institute.
